Carli and Julie Kennedy present:
Christmas with the Kennedys and Kelby MacNayr
Metro Studio Theatre
December 11th at 7:30 pm.
Doors open at 7:00pm.
Tickets are $15
Identical twin singer-songwriter duo presents an evening of Christmas favorites and original tunes.
Victoria’s own accomplished sister-act will perform at the Metro Studio Theatre on December 11th at 7:30 pm. An audience favourite at the 2009 Victoria Jazz Fest International and the City of Victoria’s summer concert series, Carli and Julie promise another exciting evening of music. Their show will feature both creative arrangements of Christmas favourites as well as original holiday tunes. The Kennedys will also debut their newest compositions. They are both accomplished vocalists and instrumentalists, with Carli on guitar and Julie on violin and bass guitar. The Kennedys will be joined by renowned drummer, Kelby MacNayr, and other surprise guests.
At the young age of twenty-three, Carli and Julie Kennedy have already developed a sound that is all their own: a fusion of their diverse background in jazz, classical, folk, and Celtic music. Featured in the Victoria Times Colonist in June 2008, the Kennedys have been described by colleagues, professors, and audiences alike as “fine players and truly communicative performers.” They are both
graduates of the University of Victoria’s Bachelor of Music performance program. An undeniably
energetic duo, Carli and Julie’s performances bring a mix of toe‐tapping tunes and intimate, heartfelt
songs to the stage. Known for their exceptional harmonies, fine musicality, and sincere songwriting
style, the Kennedys have quickly built a devoted fan base within Victoria’s supportive arts community.
Carli and Julie have received rave reviews and air-time on CBC radio and 95.7 Sun FM with their
debut recording. With four original songs, the recording features Kelby MacNayr on drums, Scott
White on bass, and Adrian Dolan on accordion and mandolin. As described in the Powell River
Peak’s October 8, 2008 cover story, the Kennedys’ recording features “skilled musicianship and a
sonorous vocal style. The voices, like the sisters, are in sync.” Carli and Julie will bring the same soft
and smooth melodies to their live performance. Audiences will enjoy the Kennedys’ imaginative
Christmas arrangements and entertaining original songs. As passionate singers and songwriters, the
Kennedys are looking forward to kindling the audience’s Christmas spirit with a vibrant and festive
performance.
Carli and Julie Kennedy perform at the Metro Studio Theatre (1411 Quadra at Johnson) on December
11th at 7:30pm. Doors open at 7:00pm. Tickets are $15, and they are available at Larsen Music, Long
and McQuade, and at the door. Food and beverages will be sold, and CDs will be available at the
event for $10. For more information visit their official website www.cjkennedy.com or to preview
